All over the world, migrants seek to cross borders which often they do not survive. This is the problematic that the global participatory exhibition project “Hostile Terrain 94” addresses. The project draws attention to the consequences of the US border enforcement strategy “Prevention through Deterrence”. Since 1994, this strategy has forced thousands of migrants each year to cross the “hostile terrain” in the Sonoran Desert. For many of them, the desert turned out to be deadly. Between 2020 and 2021, “Hostile Terrain 94” takes place in over 100 locations worldwide – including Münster.
