Welcome to the
Afroeuropeans: Black Cultures and Identities in Europe V conference in Münster
From 16-19 September 2015, the fifth biennial Afroeuropean Studies Network conference took place in Münster, offering papers on literature, history, music, art, politics, and youth culture. Keynote speakers were activist and Political Scientist Jamie Schearer (ISD: Initiative Schwarze Menschen in Deutschland) and the British author Diran Adebayo.
Bernardine Evaristo launched the British Centre for Black and Asian Writing. The programme also featured screenings, readings, and the roundtable: ‘Why is my professor not black?’, as well as a spoken word performance by Philipp Khabo Koepsell. Afroeuropeans V brought together scholars, activists, and artists from across Europe, Africa, and the Americas, to engage with Afroeuropean cultures and identities.
The abstracts can still be viewed and downloaded here. Please find the printed conference programme here: http://www.
