Represented by Prof. Dr. Simon Lux and PhD student Jannis Wesselkämper, IfbM participated in this year's IBA conference in March. In honor of Nobel Laureate John B. Goodenough, the conference was held at the University of Texas at his hometown Austin. Together with the IBA Board, IBA Board Chair Prof. Dr. Martin Winter from MEET welcomed numerous prominent guests in battery research, including Nobel Laureates Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino.

Prof. Dr. Simon Lux was also invited to give a presentation at IBA 2023 in Austin. In addition to status quo of FFB and current research topics and results in the field of circular economy of lithium-ion batteries, life cycle assessment, recycling and reuse, Prof. Dr. Lux presented forecasts on worldwide trends in battery technologies and current production developments in major global markets. Prof. Dr. Simon Lux was supported by our PhD student Jannis Wesselkämper, who was able to discuss the progress of a current project with the IBA participants.

All in all, the IBA conference once again proved to be an international, exciting and top-class environment to exchange information on the current development of battery technologies, to network research projects and researchers globally and to discuss future trends and challenges with professors, PhD students and representatives from industry and politics.
