DC09: Cristina Orozco Jauregui
Personal Background:
I grew up in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and spent most of my youth on a tennis court. I played from age 11 to 21 and competed at national level throughout those years. That background sparked my interest in human movement and biomechanics, so here we are!
Study Background:
- B.Sc. Sport Science at Universidad de Guadalajara, in Mexico
- M. Sc. Human Technology in Sport and Medicine at the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln, in Germany
Other research experience prior to TReND:
- Intern at the Institute of Biomechanics and Orthopaedics at the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln, working on a project on hip modelling using OpenSim.
- Masters Thesis on: Analyzing clinical exercises and hip dysplasia prevention in children with cerebral palsy: A modeling study incorporating proximal femur deformities.
- Research associate at the Institute of Movement and Sport Gerontology at the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln, where I did the pilot study of a project studying the neuro-mechanical mechanisms underlying the impact of inhibitory control on age-related changes in balance & mobility, with focus on gait initiation.
Social Media/ University Profiles:
Personal research project:
The relationship between cognition and gait variability in aging and FND patients
Project Updates
University/Institute:
Radboud University & Radboudumc
Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behavior
Supervisor team:
Prof. Dr. Richard wan Wezel, Dr. Jorik Nonnekes, Prof. Dr. Noël Keysers
Motivation:
I want to expand and apply my knowledge in a way that feels meaningful and has a real impact. I’m especially interested in how movement and cognition relate to each other in the context of health and ageing. I’m comfortable working with data but what motivates me most is turning that into something that can genuinely improve how we understand and support people. Hence, this project is a great opportunity for me to work in that direction.
