Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC)

Doctoral students in the RTG are supervised by a thesis advisory committee (TAC), which plays a central role in guiding the student and also presents an additional element to foster interactions between different groups within this CRC. For this purpose, each PhD student chooses one supervisor (generally the project leader) and two co-supervisors, who will often be a collaboration partner within the CRC1459 to serve on the TAC at the beginning of the doctoral studies.

Also at the beginning of their studies, all members of the RTG agree to adhere to a supervision agreement together with their respective TAC. As part of the supervision agreement, the doctoral student and the TAC agree to meet on an annual basis to discuss the progress of the PhD student´s research project and for the young researcher to obtain specific input regarding career development.

Additionally, this uniform educational and supervision scheme for the all participating doctoral students helps to ensure structured doctoral training and successful timely completion of the programme, with regular research duration of three years.
