Klinische und epidemiologische Studien

Die Arbeitsgruppe ist an der Konzeption, Organisation, Durchführung und Auswertung klinischer und epidemiologischer Studien beteiligt. Die wichtigsten Resultate betreffen Lipoprotein(a). Im 10-Jahres-Follow-up der PROCAM-Studie wurde ein erhöhtes Lp(a) als Risikofaktor für Herzinfarkt bei 35 bis 65-jährigen Männern gefunden, insbesondere bei Vorhandensein eines erhöhten LDL-Cholesterins oder eines hohen globalen Risikos. Darüberhinaus fanden wir bei Kindern ein erhöhtes Lp(a) als Risikofaktor für venöse Thromboembolien und Schlaganfall sowie bei Frauen als Risikofaktor für habituelle Aborte. Hier interagierte Lp(a) mit thrombophilen Defekten in Genen des Hämostasesystems.
