Practice Days

Every year, the BFO and the Chair for Organisational and Business Psychology, together with the student association PWM (Psychology in Business and Media), host a work and occupational psychology practice day. This day is an opportunity for students to learn about the various job possibilities that exist in the field of organisational psychology. Here, psychology graduates talk about their occupational career and their work in organisational practice. Speakers from the fields of e.g. personnel selection, human resource development (for example for leaders), coaching, human resource management, market and innovation research or marketing, are invited.

The talks of the practitioners give the students an idea of the different occupational fields that may be pursued by work and organisational psychology graduates. The content of the speeches may be useful to all psychology students, since it paints a more precise picture of second largest employment market for psychologists. Workshops with work and organisational psychological relevance will be held in addition to the speeches. Previous workshops have been on job application training, Burnout, coaching or self-management. Over and above the speeches and workshops, students have the opportunity to get their job application portfolios checked by experienced practitioners. Our work and organisational psychology practice day has proofed to be a good platform for the networking and procurement of internships or potential final theses topics.

  • Review: AOW Practice Days 2025

What can you actually do with a degree in psychology? A career, of course—but where and how? These questions were at the heart of the PWM Practice Days 2025, held on June 27–28, 2025, at the Institute of Psychology at the University of Münster. The Practice Days are aimed at students with a particular interest in Work and Organizational Psychology and are designed to showcase the exciting positions that graduates with a WO background can pursue. Now in its 23rd edition, the event was once again organized by dedicated students from the association Psychologie in Wirtschaft und Medien e.V. (PWM) together with Philipp Schäpers.

Through workshops and talks, students received insider tips and had plenty of opportunities for informal exchange and networking during the get-together. Four engaging workshops covered topics such as Data Science & GenAI, personnel selection, coaching, and job application training.

    Speakers in 2025 included:

    Dominik Fladung: codecentric

Jan Fuhrmann & Gunter Nittel: Applysia

    Oliver Theißing: Theißing Coaching

    Viola Discher: Goldbeck

    Ayse Semiz-Ewald: Telekom

    Lucas Rosenbusch: Booking.com

    Bentje Grünewald: DKV

    Philipp Schäpers: University of Münster

A big thank-you to all our guests for their valuable insights, and a special thanks to the students in the PWM association for the excellent organization! We also sincerely thank our sponsors—WeMynd, Techniker Krankenkasse, Feedbackpeople, and liba—for their generous support.

So, what can you do with a background in AOW psychology? The PWM Practice Days 2025 provided our students with fresh inspiration and illustrated possible career paths after graduation in Münster. We’re already looking forward to the Practice Days 2026!
