In this master's course, we will delve into the recent surge in anti-gender politics globally, dissecting its ideological roots, key actors, and concrete manifestations. We will analyse how the “anti-gender wave” which encompasses opposition to LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive rights, feminist movements, and gender studies basically operates as a political strategy employed by right-wing movements. Through theoretical discussions and case studies of this emerging field of research, we'll explore and evaluate the impact of this wave on democratic institutions, social justice movements, and human rights, while also considering potential strategies for resistance and counter-narratives.
