The seminar will please emphasis on the democratic foresight and the new democratic pact for Europe. It will analyse the Reykjavik principles of Democracy on rule of law, democracy and human rights developed in 2023.
The main focus is on democratic citizen engagement and democratic renewal. It will evaluate online and offline participation and instruments such as minipublics, participatory budgeting etc. This hybrid seminar (online offline blended learning) is related to the „World Forum for Democracy” on „ New Democratic Pact for Europe” Mo. 2.11 2026 till Tuesday 3.11.2026 organized by the Council of Europe in Strasburg ( https://www.coe.int/en/web/world-forum-democracy). In this seminar an excursion to the Council of Europe in Strasburg and participation at the World forum for democracy will be realized. Travelling and accommodation in Strasburg has to be organized and paid for by each student on its own.
Participation is limited! Direct Registration at the website of the council of Europe https://www.coe.int/en/web/world-forum-democracy/home is necessary before the seminar starts!!!! Please check the WfD 2026 website and register asap.
An additional registration in Learnweb until 10.10. is obligatory as well. Please, inform me immediately, if you have to decline and cannot participate. In this case, we can accept someone else.
Password for Learnweb is “WfD2026”. From Learnweb you also get access to the online tools Gathertown and PlaceM etc. From the semester start onwards the immediate use of Gathertown and PlaceM Quiz as well as the reading list in learnweb is obligatory
Participation at the first session 26.10 is obligatory! All other organizational questions will be discussed in the first session at 26.10. The meetings is in preparation for the excursion to the World forum of democracy on 2.11 -3.11.. Only highly important question will be handled online by using email and only on working days.
