Since the publication of Piketty’s “Capital in the Twenty-First Century” in 2014, there has been renewed interest in studying past inequality. We will study both the theoretical foundations and empirical methods underlying this research. Which sources do researchers use? What are the assumptions? Thematically, we will study the following three questions: How did inequality evolve over the past centuries? What factors affected this evolution? And what were the consequences? Both economics and history students can take this course. Bitte per email über lehreta@uni-muenster.de anmelden (für WiWis).
