Written Academic English aims to introduce students to the basic conventions and register of academic writing. Week by week, we will systematically go through the steps of how to write an academic essay. We will learn how to outline and plan an essay around a topic, formulate a thesis statement, write an introduction, write the body and the conclusion in a style that is appropriate for academia. You will get access to the materials in the first session on Oct. 14 - as attendance is mandatory in all language practice classes, please be sure to attend on the first day to ensure your spot in this class.
