This course is designed around current debates in critical theory centering on the relationship between text and context, form and content, aesthetics and politics. Texts we will discuss are paradigmatic examples of current debates surrounding these issues. Students will be expected to read the assigned texts, study them, keep a record on important ideas gleaned from them, and bring them into conversation with their object of study. While these activities may not be part of students’ “Studienleistung,” they are an important practice as students set out to design their MA thesis projects in literary and cultural studies.

The course is an in-person, on-site event. For more information on class attendance, please see the following resolution on the English Department homepage: https://www.uni-muenster.de/Anglistik/Study/ClassAttendance.html
