Firstly, this course aims to refresh your knowledge of fundamental linguistic concepts and terminology you have encountered in your introductory linguistics courses. Secondly, various methods of linguistic analysis will be introduced and applied, including phonetic analysis (with the programme Praat), corpus linguistics (e.g., at the example of English Corpora) and different methods designed to elicit and analyse language attitudes. You will be expected to apply what you have learnt about the different methods in several worksheets.
