This class combines the MA NTS 'Postgraduate class' (I.2) with the MA BAPS 'Advanced Academic Skills.' This class is for students who aim to write their MA thesis in literary and cultural studies, regardless of theirs specific disciplinary locaiton at the English Seminar. This class enables you to engage with your (tentative) MA project and with a range of academic wiriting assignments (introductions and thesis statements, book reviews, analyses and arguments). To this end we engage with foundations of academic writing, central skillsets like close reading, core notions in anglophone literary and cultural studies, a reange of textual formaitions (novels, films, poems, etc.) but we also learn about structures of German academia and how to navigate them.
