Description

Lecture Course: Introduction to the Theory of Quantum Chaos

 Planned content:

  • Nonlinear dynamics and chaos in dynamical systems
  • ”Quantum Chaos: Is There Any?”
  • Quantum signatures of chaos
  • Quantum localization
  • Quantum-mechanical stochastic webs

The lectures will be conducted in five full-day sessions on weekends during summer vacation time – making the course a short “Summer School on Quantum Chaos”. Dates are proposals only, to be discussed with the participants.
Dates, further details, including schedule and whether the lectures will be done in English or German, will be discussed in the

Introductory session: Fri 24.04.2026, 15:15-16:45 Uhr, KP 404

In case you are interested but cannot make it to the Introductory Session you are welcome nevertheless: get in touch with me to be briefed about the details: engel@uni-muenster.de

Literature

Cvitanovic et al.: "Chaos: Classical and Quantum", http://chaosbook.org/ (2020)
An extended reading list will be provided in the first lecture.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of quantum mechanics
Basic knowledge of nonlinear physics would be beneficial, but not required
