The goal is to introduce shtukas over function fields, a hot topic in current research in Arithmetic Algebraic Geometry. As a preparation for shtukas, we will study locally free sheaves of rank n on a regular projective curve C and their moduli space, called Bun_G for the group G = GL_n. We will also consider other groups G, like SL_n. Several important concepts and techniques in algebraic geometry will be developed along the way.
