This seminar will explore the use of picturebooks and possibly other types of children's literature in the primary school English classroom. We'll look into selection criteria for picture books, discuss different picture books regarding their suitability for primary school ELT (with a focus on content and language), get to know the method of storytelling as well as insights into independent reading of these books, focus on unit and lesson planning with picture books based on the task cycle and also look into the "why" of using picture books". This class finishes with a Modulabschlussprüfung that will be a Simulationsprüfung. Details will be given in class. Also, a list of literature and a detailled course plan will be provided in the first session.
