The purpose of the undergraduate research class is to discuss potential BA projects. The focus lies on thematic possibilities and common concerns for a BA thesis such as: what is a possible topic? What is an appropriate scope? What is original work? We will discuss the importance of existent research in the most popular fields and practise how to get a deeper understanding of what has already been published. We will talk about potential topics and all the things you would have to consider to bring in or leave out when writing about those ideas. Whether you are currently preparing your actual BA thesis or whether that is still in the more distant future, we will explore together what it means to write your final assignment for English literary and cultural studies.
