Die moderne Sprachwissenschaft ist eine in sich stark ausdifferenzierte Disziplin. Dies ist nicht zuletzt dem inhärent interdisziplinären Anspruch des Gegenstandes zuzuschreiben. Sprache und sprachliche Kommunikation sind nicht nur der Gegenstand der Linguistik, sondern zahlreicher anderer Fachrichtungen, wie bspw. der Anthropologie, Psychologie und Soziologie. In dem Seminar wird es darum gehen, eine spezifische soziologische Forschungsrichtung, nämlich die der Ethnomethodologie, kennzulernen, die für einen Teilbereich innerhalb der Linguistik, die sog. Interaktionale Linguistik, wichtige Impulse geliefert hat. Wir werden uns in dem Seminar einerseits mit verschiedenen Grundlagentexten der Ethnomethodologie im Allgemeinen und der Ethnomethodologischen Konversationsanalyse im Speziellen befassen. Andererseits sollen aber auch Studien aus dem Bereich der Interaktionalen Linguistik besprochen und Arbeitsmethoden sowie ein bestimmter „Analysestil” vorgestellt und eingeübt werden.

Modern linguistics is a highly diversified discipline. This is not least due to the inherently interdisciplinary nature of the subject. Language and linguistic communication are not only the subject of linguistics, but also of numerous other disciplines, such as Anthropology, Psychology and Sociology. The class will focus on a specific sociological field of research, namely ethnomethodology, which has provided important inspiration for a subfield within linguistics, so-called Interactional Linguistics. In the class we will deal with various basic texts of Ethnomethodology in general and Ethnomethodological Conversational Analysis in particular. On the other hand, we will also discuss studies from the field of Interactional Linguistics and introduce and practice analytical methods and a certain “ analytical style”.
