In this seminar, we will read introductions and introductory chapters to contemporary works of feminist theory. The topics here will be across the board – from consent to abolition feminism to whether or not feminists should reject pornography. For most of the sessions, the literature will be provided, for at least 2 sessions students will have the opportunity to suggest their own literature that will be discussed with their peers (the plan is to choose from the books on the syllabus, but other recommendations are welcome and encouraged). Among others, we will read the works of Manon Garcia, Laurie Penny and Amia Srinivasan. Every student will present one introduction and a chapter from that same book of their choosing.
