The course is open to both Bachelor’s and Master's Students. It will introduce the key components of systems for spatially explicit information search and geographic question-answering. The concepts introduced will be applied through group project work. We will use existing large language models (e.g. Deepseek, GPT) to realize question answering about raster and vector datasets. Topics: spatial query formulation and interpretation, spatial data types and databases, computation of geographic relevance, approximation, interaction (query input, result display, relevance feedback). Prerequisites: familiarity with at least one programming language (C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Python).

The course is offered as a hybrid course: the first and last meeting of the semester will be in person. All others will be held online.
