This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the multifaceted field of learning with Nigeria in the English as a foreign or second language classroom. It places strong emphasis on hands-on practice, with participants developing learning and teaching tasks and materials for both secondary and vocational educational settings.

This course will be conducted as an in-person intensive seminar (Blockseminar) in cooperation Professor James Ile Onyebuchi, who is our guest professor from Nigeria. Students will be required to work in groups, so please ensure that you are available during class times so that you can collaborate with your peers.

Please note that you have to attend two preparatory sessions on Wednesdays, from 4-6 when students are required to attend the lecture "Spotlights in English Language Education": 26th November and 3rd December 2025.

As we will be working with a variety of texts and media, including literature, video games, VR technology and film, you are required to read the following two novels before the seminar begins:
Elnathan John, Born on a Tuesday (2016).
Olumide Popoola: When We Speak of Nothing, 2017.

A learnweb-course will be available prior to the course.
