The geodatabase course is designed to equip students with a deep
understanding of spatial databases and geospatial analysis. Starting with the basics
of PostGIS and spatial data types, the course progresses through advanced topics
such as spatial indexing, complex spatial queries, raster, and 3D data management.
Practical assignments and projects enhance learning by providing hands-on
experience with real-world GIS applications. Students will also gain proficiency in
using PL/pgSQL for automating spatial tasks and integrating PostGIS with
visualization tools like QGIS and web mapping libraries. The course culminates in a
final project, allowing students to apply their knowledge to a significant geospatial
analysis challenge, preparing them for advanced GIS roles in various industries.
