The courses Theoretical Nonlinear Physics focuses on theoretical descriptions of nonlinear phenomena related to self-organization in many areas of science. Part 1 concerns the derivation, analysis and discussion of finite-dimensional models with purely temporal dynamics, i.e., maps (discrete time steps) and flows (ordinary differential equations). In the subsequent Summer semester, part 2 of the lecture course focuses on pattern formation in spatially extended systems.

During the course we will also touch: Variational and nonvariational dynamics, role of symmetries, generic and nongeneric bifurcations. |
The lecture will start on Tuesday, 14 October 2025.
The lecture is given in English.
