At the heart of this course are the political system of and politics in the Federal Republic of Germany. We will get to know (some of) its history and conceptual foundations, its main institutions as well as characteristics of its politics. But there will also be plenty of space for comparisons and the discussion of current developments in Germany and beyond.
As this course is conceptualised especially for ERASMUS students, this course will also help you to get situated within German university life and at the Institute for Political Science in particular. In addition, we will also cover rules of academic research and writing – especially of term papers – which should help you succeed in all your courses at the IfPol.
The course will take place in the form of a compact course. The specific dates will be announced in a timely manner.
For the non-graded credits / course work you are required to give a presentation in class. The exam will have the form of a term paper.
