The lectures builds on the knowledge gained in the preceding Bachelor's programme. At the commencement of the term, students will have the unique opportunity to select topics and themes, research areas, and larger questions to be addressed throughout the course. 

The course provides a synoptic view of selected aspects within the complex fields of second language acquisition and English language education with a particular focus on the German school context, while at the same time taking account of the findings of international research. Potential topics include learning languages in the digital age (including AI and XR technologies), learning with (digital) texts, human and children’s rights education, language education for peace, language learning aptitude and more.
