As a very important aspect of geographic information science, spatial cognition addresses the acquisition, processing, and utilization of spatial information and its use in decision making. The study of spatial cognition not only contributes to better understanding of efficiency of geographical information systems but also inspires the design and development of cognitively efficient applications. In this course, you are introduced to the interdisciplinary field of spatial cognition, including topics from several perspectives such as geographic information science, cognitive science, psychology and computer science. The course consists of assignment of critical reading and assessing of related publications, oral presentation and discussions.
