This course offers an introduction into quantitative methods in historical analysis. Students will gain hands-on experience in collecting, processing, and interpreting historical data, including indicators such as GDP, inflation rates, unemployment figures, and measures of social and economic inequality. We also cover new types of data sources that the recent advancements in digital history make workable. Finally, through practical sessions, students gain first experiences in carrying out their own data analysis. Prior knowledge in data analysis is neither required nor expected.
