Problems in dynamics have fascinated scientists for decades. A historical example is the motion of bodies in the solar system. Another example is fluid dynamics.

Even though many mathematical (ODE/PDE) models at first glance look elegant and simple, the solution of specific problems is remarkably difficult. Especially nonlinear systems remain challenging.

This course introduces methods from dynamical systems theory and then applies those to solve some concrete problems. We may either first think about some interesting dynamical property and then construct a dynamical system whose solutions exhibit it, or we may look at a given dynamical system and then try to find out the properties of its solutions.
