This course introduces the main theoretical approaches to international studies. Since its origins, the theoretical debate on world politics has been linked to the need to understand the actors and characteristics of the international order, its structures, conditioning factors and asymmetries, the agendas and spheres for its transformation, the struggles for development and against inequality, and the spaces for international cooperation. Each theoretical perspective has different ways of conceiving structure and action, as well as of defining the object of study itself: 'the international'.
