In this course, we will deepen and apply the theoretical and methodological knowledge acquired in the foundational module. We will approach Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe (1719), Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness (1899), and two film adaptations from a wide range of critical perspectives such as new historicism, postcolonial theory, feminist criticism, gender studies, and adaptation theory. In addition to the novels and films, we will read and discuss theoretical and secondary texts, which will be made available by the beginning of the term.
