Fibeln dienten in vor- und frühgeschichtlicher Zeit als Kleidungsverschluss. Sie waren allerdings nicht nur funktionale Gegenstände, sondern auch Schmuckstück und Statussymbol. Für Archäologen sind Fibeln wichtige "Leitformen", die Auskunft über die zeitliche Einordnung von Fundkomplexen geben können.
Im Praxisseminar sollen Fibeln aus der Lehrsammlung der Abteilung für Ur- und Frühgeschichtliche Archäologie gezeichnet, fotografiert, beschrieben und anschließend geografisch und chronologisch eingeordnet werden. Die Ergebnisse sollen in Kurzreferaten vorgestellt werden.

In prehistoric and medieval times brooches were used for fastening garments. Nevertheless, brooches were not merely functional objects but pieces of jewellery and status symbols. For archaeologists they are important "type fossils" offering information about the chronology of finds.
In the seminar brooches from the collection of the department of prehistory will be documented by drawings, photographs and descriptions. Afterwards they will be classified geographically and chronologically. The results will be presented in short talks.
