Assessment is an integral part of any classroom environment, including the EFL classroom. This seminar provides an overview over the most important types and forms of testing student competences in contemporary English language teaching. Among other things, we will discuss common instruments of assessment (e.g. class tests, portfolios) and take a closer look at core features of good testing practices in general (e.g. quality criteria, diagnostic competences, rating scales).
All course participants will be expected to take over responsibility for teaching one of the sessions. A list of the topics to be prepared will be made available at the first meeting, after which responsibilities will be divided. Consequently, students who do not attend this meeting forfeit their chance to take part in the course.
