Übung Theory and Literature (Gruppe IX): Reading Science Fiction WiSe 2022/23

In this class, students will be able to apply their acquired theoretical skills from “Introduction to Literary and Cultural Studies I+II”. We will engage with the genre of Science Fiction by examining its origins, definition(s) and major themes. Drawing on Postcolonial Studies, Queer and Gender Theory, Ecocriticism, and other critical approaches, we will discuss three influential texts and examine the role of science, the alien, post-humanism, gender and sexuality, and the environment.
