This Seminar covers different aspects of the global politics of English. We discuss the diverse global role of English, English and migration, English and global media, the ELT industry, English in Germany, and how these aspects should be refelcted in English Language Teaching. Students are required to read texts (overview texts + empirical studies) and carry out small empirical analyses in class as a preparation for their term paper.

The class starrts in the first week of the lecture period.
