Course description

Ensuring the success of development programs and projects implies good planning, implementation, and evaluation of these programs and projects. In this course, through a methodology of learning by doing, students will acquire the basic knowledge and understanding of how to design, implement and evaluate development programs and projects.

In each session, the students will learn a new stage of how to design development programs and projects, starting from the identification of the problem to be addressed until the construction of the activities and budget necessary for its implementation. This course is in English.

Course learning objectives

  • Provide students with different planning tools for project and programs.
  • Students acquire the skills to develop problem trees and theories of change.
  • Students learn how to develop implementation plans for development projects and programs under the logic of theories of change.
  • Students are familiar with the most common methods for monitoring and evaluation of projects.

Course design

The seminar includes 13 sessions. In each sessions, the students will learn a new element for the development of a program plan and its evaluation system. These elements will help for the construction of the final term paper, which would be a development project or program implementation plan and evaluation proposal.
