In this course students study Christian Social Ethics as a border-navigating discipline. The key borders relationship is that of the borders of states relative to the borders of religious traditions; the key theme is peace and violence. Key questions include: What challenges are raised by borders as objects of ethical attention? How is religion a factor in these challenges? How does reflection on religious borders generate insight on political borders? What do these relationships and reflections mean for the ethical imperative of promoting peace in Christian social ethics? Finally, how is this discipline itself bordered?
