This course serves to develop the projects teacher trainees have to carry out during their school placement (‘Praxissemester’). It will offer a survey of possible topics, some of which will be discussed in more detail, so that each course participant will have a number of options to choose from during their work experience.
We will be meeting for four sessions during the lecture period, namely on May 13th, May 27th, June 3rd and on June 17th (Fridays 10-12).
In these sessions we will cover topics, such as lesson planning, language and language learning competences, teaching texts, approaches to EFL, (new) media in ELT and classroom discourse, and discuss ways of developing possible designs for the research to be carried out at the schools.
Work will continue during the lecture-free period and the following term, where an online platform (LearnWeb) will be used for e-learning and individual counselling as well as a means for disseminating materials.
Moreover, there will be two whole-day meetings ('Studientage'), which will take place on October 28th and on December 9th 2022, respectively. A final session will be reserved for the final reflection of the work experience (date to be determined).
