This lecture provides an overview of the IT infrastructure at WWU with a focus on the natural sciences. Available tools and technologies like High-Performance-Computing (HPC), Data Science, Sciebo, WWU-Cloud, Jupyter Notebook, git, Morfeus, etc. are explained and presented. Besides a Linux crash course and a short introduction to Research Software Engineering (concerning the use of integrated development environments, software libraries, version control systems, testing strategies etc.) also the topic of research data management is covered.
Following the lecture, students can work on their own practical projects. (3 SWS, separate registration required.)
Die Vorlesung gibt einen Überblick über die IT-Infrastruktur der WWU mit Fokus auf den Naturwissenschaften. Die verschiedenen Angebote wie High-Performance-Computing (HPC), Data Science, Sciebo, WWU-Cloud, Jupyter Notebook, git, Morfeus, etc. werden vorgestellt und Ihre konkrete Nutzung gezeigt. Neben einem Linux-Crashkurs und einer Einführung in das Research Software Engineering (bezgl. der Nutzung von Entwicklungsumgebungen, Bibliotheken, Versionsverwaltungen, Teststrategien etc.) wird auch das Thema Forschungsdatenmanagement behandelt.
Im Anschluss besteht die Möglichkeit, ein eigenes Projekt praktisch zu bearbeiten. (3 SWS, separate Anmeldung erforderlich).
