Das Seminar vermittelt einen Überblick zur Erforschung von Siedlungen und Siedlungsräumen und die Einbindung in die Landschaft. Grundlagen sind zunächst der Hausbau in vor- und frühgeschichtlicher Zeit und methodische Ansätze zur Erforschung von Siedlungen und Landschaften in Zusammenhang mit Umwelt und Klima. Hierzu gehören auch Untersuchungen von Siedlungstypen und -lagen, die Erstellung von Fundkarten und die Interpretation von Fundlandschaften. Anschließend werden exemplarisch Siedlungen vom Neolithikum bis ins Mittelalter unter oben genannten Gesichtspunkten analysiert.
The seminar will focus on the research of settlements and settlement areas and their integration in the landscape. Basics are the construction modes of houses in prehistoric times and methodological approaches concerning the exploration of settlements and landscapes in connection with their environment and climate. Connected with this are analyses of types and locations of settlements, the making of maps and the interpretation of regions in association with certain types of finds. Subsequently we will research settlements from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages regarding the factors named above.
