In this Seminar, we will be interested in the public regulation of religion with a specific focus on the question of how legal dynamics interfere with the regulation of religion at the national, the transnational, and the organizational level. In the first half of the seminar, we question in particular the emergence of distinct national patterns of religious politics and the changing role law occupies in this context. In the second part of the seminar, we apply these different insights to specific controversies over religion in different organizational contexts and question whether and how they mirror national, transnational or organizational specificities.
