Die Vorlesung befasst sich mit den wirtschaftlichen, religiösen und gesellschaftlichen Neuerungen, die im Verlauf der Kupferzeit in Mittel- und Südosteuropa beobachtet werden können. Hierzu sind in Hinblick auf Umwälzungen im technischen Bereich zum Beispiel der Beginn der Metallurgie von Kupfer und Gold, aber auch die "Erfindung" und Nutzung von Rad und Wagen und letztlich auch die Domestikation des Pferdes zu nennen. Diese Neuerungen führten zu Umstrukturierungen in der Gesellschaft und hatten auch Auswirkungen auf religiöse Vorstellungen. Die Untersuchung dieses Geflechts von Interaktionen und die dahinterstehenden kulturellen Phänomene sind Thema der Vorlesung.
The lecture deals with economic, religious and social innovations which become visible in the course of the Copper Age in central and southeastern Europe. In respect to revolutions in the field of technology, we might mention, e. g., the beginning of metallurgy of copper and gold, but also the "invention" and the use of wheels and wagons and finally the domestication of the horse. These innovations led to a reorganization of society and also had a considerable impact on religious beliefs. The analysis of this network of interactions and the underlying cultural phenomena are the subject of the lecture.
