The topic of globalization gives rise to many questions. The phenomenon is so complex and diverse that is not often treated individually in courses and as a consequence, its meaning for the respective topic will not be explored, nevertheless, globalization is everywhere around us. Because of that it is important that its various aspects are scientifically explored, since only then we are actually able to connects its effects properly to the context in which they occur. That is why this seminar wants to provide for a room in which you can get to know more about globalization as a concept and how it shapes the context of nation-states, environmental politics, inequality, digitalization citizenship, democracy and global crisis management. The different topics will be treated with at first as single topics in each seminar and how globalization might affect them, and in the last seminar a ”Future lab” will take place which has the aim to interconnect the respective topics and will encourage the participants to come up with solutions for future challenges.

The participants will be required to have an interest for international relations and be willing to engage in discussions and with creative methods for problem solving while working in groups. Some weekly reading (max. 20-30 pages) is also required.
