This colloquium is primarily (but not solely!) designed to allow students visiting the lecture "Text, Book and Culture: An Introduction to Book Studies" a more in-depth discussion of various approaches and case studies in the history of the book and of book studies in general. We will read and discuss primary and secondary literature accompanying the lecture and thereby foster knowledge about and understanding of book studies as a discipline. This colloquium also introduces students to important databases and bibliographies for book studies.
Students are expected to actively participate. Tasks will be given as a guidance how to spend self-study time.
N.B. Students not visiting the lecuture but still interested in Book Studies may join too. Just write me a mail (simros at wwu.de) to apply.
