Seit Beginn der Moderne stehen hinter jeder wichtigen Entwicklung in der katholischen Lehre und Praxis prominente Debatten zur Interpretation der klassischen Texte und Traditionen des Christentums sowie ihrer ideologischen und praktischen Implikationen. Das letzte Jahrhundert sah diesbezüglich Durchbrüche was das Verständnis der Ursprünge von Glaubensvorstellungen und Glaubenspraktiken angeht, insbesondere mit der Anerkennung literarischer Formen und Rezeptionsprozesse der zentralen Texte und Traditionen im Aufeinandertreffen mit anderen Weltanschauungen und den je aktuellen Leben einer neuen Leserschaft.
Das Master-Kolloquium geht von da aus Fragen nach, wie zutiefst kontextuelle Interpretationen des Glaubens mit kritischen theologischen Analysen von Macht und Gnade in Kirche und Gesellschaft im Theologie treiben ineinandergreifen können und schlägt dafür den Diskurs der „dritten Naivität“ vor. Studierende reflektieren von da aus einerseits über grundlegende Themen der Hermeneutik und kritischen Theorie als notwendige Grundlagen guter katholischer Theologie. Andererseits geht es um nichts Geringeres als mit diesem geschärten theologischen Bewusstsein deutlich machen zu können, wie die frohe Botschaft der Erlösung durch Gott heute begriffen und gelebt werden kann. In einem 2-tägigen Seminarblock, 14.-15.Dezember 2018, diskutieren wir diese Themen mit Prof. Bradford Hinze (Fordham University) entlang des von ihm zusammen mit Anthony J. Godzieba edierten Buches „Beyond Dogmatism and Innocence: Hermeneutics, Critique, and Catholic Theology“ (Liturgical Press 2017).
Since the dawn of modernism, there have been prominent debates about the interpretation of classical texts and traditions of Christianity, as well as their ideological and practical implications, behind every important development in Catholic doctrine and practice. The last century saw breakthroughs in understanding the origins of imaginations of faith and exercised faith, notably the recognition of literary forms and processes of reception of central texts and traditions in clash with other worldviews and the ever-present lives of a new readership.
The Master's Colloquium explores questions of how profoundly contextual interpretations of faith can intermesh with critical theological analyzes of power and grace in the church and society in theology and suggests the discourse of the "third naivety". Students will then reflect on fundamental topics of hermeneutics and critical theory as necessary foundations of good Catholic theology.
On another note, there is nothing less to being able to use this new theological awareness, to point out how the good news of salvation through God can be understood and lived today.
