The seminar will be held in cooperation with the University of Bochum (Prof. Claudia Jahnel and Dr. Claudia Rammelt) and includes two common blocks including visits of migration churches: 26-28 October 2018 and 11-13 January 2019
More than half of the people who come to Germany from all over the world and settle here are Christians. In the NRW area alone there are more than 400 Catholic, Protestant, Oriental and Pentecostal migration churches. While they are only gradually gaining in importance in the consciousness of the dioceses and regional churches, the children and adolescents of these communities have long participated in religious education. Members of migrant churches have experiences that are often very different from those of the members of the Protestant churches and the Catholic Church, both in terms of their religious or cultural socialization as well as in dealing with other religions. Increasingly, however, it shows that migration churches develop primarily as ethnic communities. Therefore, is the idea that they are a place of intercultural community and theology formation to be questioned?
In the seminar we will explore a multitude of ethnic and intercultural communities in NRW with their international histories, ethnic, intercultural and interreligious connections; we will engage with both the ways of life and concepts of thought of the members of the communities, as well as their ways of celebrating worship and living the church; we will practice intercultural and interreligious sensibility in dialogues and interviews while learning to know and articulate one's own point of view; we will reflect the phenomena "ethnic migration churches" and "intercultural communities" theoretically and theologically on the background of existing investigations.

Mehr als die Hälfte der Menschen, die aus aller Welt nach Deutschland kommen und hier sesshaft werden, sind Christinnen und Christen. Allein im Bereich NRW befinden sich über 400 katholische, protestantische, orientalische und pfingstlich geprägte Migrationskirchen. Während sie im Bewusstsein der Diözesen und Landeskirchen erst allmählich an Bedeutung gewinnen, nehmen die Kinder und Jugendlichen dieser Gemeinden lange schon am Religionsunterricht teil. Mitglieder von Migrationskirchen haben sowohl hinsichtlich ihrer religiösen bzw. kulturellen Sozialisation als auch im Umgang mit anderen Religionen Erfahrungen, die sich von denen der Mitglieder der protestantischen Landeskirchen und der katholischen Kirche oftmals deutlich unterscheiden. Vermehrt zeigt sich aber auch, dass sich Migrationskirchen vornehmlich als ethnische Gemeinden entwickeln. Ist damit die Vorstellung, dass sie ein Ort der interkulturellen Gemeinde- und Theologiebildung zu hinterfragen?
Im Seminar werden wir eine Vielzahl ethnischer bzw. interkultureller Gemeinden in NRW mit ihren internationalen Geschichten, ethnischen, interkulturellen wie interreligiösen Verflechtungen erkunden; uns sowohl mit den Lebens- und Denkformen der Angehörigen der Gemeinden als auch mit ihren Formen, Gottesdienst zu feiern und Gemeinde zu leben, auseinandersetzen; in Dialogen und Interviews interkulturelle und interreligiöse Sensibilität einüben und gleichzeitig den eigenen Standpunkt kennen- und zu artikulieren lernen;
die Phänomene „ethnische Migrationskirchen“ und „interkulturelle Gemeinden“ auf dem Hintergrund bestehender Untersuchungen theoretisch und theologisch reflektieren.
