International and Comparative Education (ICE) thematizes education at different levels across the world. By doing this, it draws from theories and methodologies from several disciplines and traditions and it 'constructs' its research object in specific ways. In this seminar, students will be introduced to ICE by means of discussing educational documentaries from throughout the world. The documentaries cover a variety of topics, ranging from preschool to tertiary education. Most of the movies were created from a comparative perspective, revealing the case studies in different countries and areas the myriad of ways in which education may be organized. In post-screening discussions, ideas and topics of inquiry will be generated through collaborative effort. The seminar is particularly focused to students interested in global educational practices and experiences that open up new vistas for own reflection.
