Hands-On Computer Science: An Exhibition on Pioneering Women in Computer Science

How have women shaped the field of computer science? What ideas lie behind the technologies that define our daily lives?

The exhibition “Women in Computing” provides answers to these questions. It will be on view at the University of Münster from September 28 to October 30, 2026.

The exhibition is aimed at the general public and is particularly well-suited for secondary school classes.

Admission is free. No registration is required.

The Exhibition

Through 30 portraits, visitors will learn about notable women in computer science and their most significant contributions – from Ada Lovelace, who is considered the author of the first published algorithm, and Grace Hopper, a pioneer of modern programming languages, to the Bletchley Park Codebreakers, whose work remained hidden from the public for many years.

The exhibition aims to inspire young people to explore computing, highlight fascinating role models and demonstrate the diversity of the field.

The exhibition will be on view from September 28 through October 30, 2026.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:15 p.m.

Opening Workshop

The exhibition will open on September 28, 2026, with the Alice & Eve Germany 2026 workshop at the University of Münster.
