Exchange

Retrieving Exchange mails:
You can access Exchange via Outlook or via the browser at owa.wwu.de.

Important notes:

- The prerequisite is that your computer is connected to the university network or the Internet
- Do NOT enter the Exchange mail address as the contact address, but your standard mail address. Mails sent to the default mail address will be forwarded to Exchange.

  • Configure Exchange

    When using Outlook for the first time: When Outlook is started, a wizard appears to set up the e-mail account.
    If Outlook is already in use:
    Start the wizard by clicking on “File” in Outlook and then on “Add account”.
    Select the “Email account” option.
    Enter your Exchange e-mail address in the window. (This is usually IhreUni-Kennung@exchange.wwu.de; if you have changed your main email name in the IT portal, enter Haupt-E-Mail-Name@exchange.wwu.de).
    Then click on “Connect”.

    Select “Exchange” in the window.

    A new window will then open. Enter the university password or the password for the account there. Check the box “Save login data”. If the e-mail address does not match yours, select “More options” and then “Use another user account”. Enter the correct e-mail address and the corresponding password.

    Your mailbox is now connected to Exchange!

    Note

    During integration, you may be asked for your cache settings. This allows you to view and edit received emails offline. We recommend setting the cache to one year.
    If this prompt does not appear, go to “File” > “Account settings”, select your Exchange account and click on “Change”. Activate the checkbox and set the slider to “1 year”. Close the window with “Next”.
    Then restart Outlook.
