Elections to the boards of the institutes and departments of Faculty 8 History/Philosophy

The Election Committee of Faculty 8 announces:

In the summer semester 2025, elections will be held for the executive boards of the institutes and departments of the Faculty of History & Philosophy. They comprise the group of students for the term of office from 01.10.2025 to 30.09.2026. The elections will be held from Friday, 06.06.2025 to Friday, 20.06.2025, 2 p.m..

The elections will be held in accordance with the election regulations for the elections to the executive boards of the scientific institutions of faculties 01–04 and 06–14 as well as the scientific institutions without tasks in health care of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Münster dated 25 April 2002, the 1st order amending the election regulations dated 25 April 2006 and in accordance with Section 30 of the faculty regulations dated 24 July 2015.

1. Principles of the election procedure

The following are to be elected:

2. Eligibility to vote and electability

All students who are studying the subject or subjects offered by the institute/department of the Faculty of History & Philosophy are electable (in accordance with Section 30 (4) of the Faculty regulations dated 24 July 2015). They provide proof of their electability by submitting a certificate issued by the respective managing director (forms are available in the institutes and departments). The representatives of the student group on the boards of the institutes/departments are elected by the representatives of the student group on the faculty council of the Faculty of History/Philosophy.

3 Overview of deadlines and dates

3.1 Election proposals

Nomination of candidates by submitting the election proposals to the Election Committee in the Dean's Office of Faculty 8: Monday, 19 May 2025 to Friday, 30 May 2025, 4.00 pmTwice as many candidates should be nominated as there are seats to be allocated.

When nominating candidates for the institute/department boards, it should be noted that, in accordance with Section 11c of the Higher Education Act, the university committees must have gender parity, unless there is an objectively justified exception in individual cases. The exceptional reasons for a deviation from the provisions on the composition of committees must be recorded in the individual case of deviation.

3.2 Conduct of the election

The election of the students will be held by the student representatives of the Faculty Council within the election period Friday, 6 June 2025 to Friday, 20 June 2025, 2 p.m. in the Dean's Office of the Department of History & Philosophy, Domplatz 20–22.

Only candidates who are included in an election proposal of their academic institution (institute/department) and have been nominated to the election committee (Dean's Office) in due time are eligible for election.

3.3 Announcement of the election results

Wednesday, 25 June 2025 to Tuesday, 8 July 2025 by display in the Dean's Office of the Faculty of History & Philosophy, Domplatz 20–22,
and posting in the institutes and departments of Faculty of History & Philosophy.

3.4 Possibility of objection

Any person entitled to vote may contest the election within a period of 10 days from the day of the announcement of the election result by submitting a written objection to the Chair of the Election Committee, Dean's Office of Faculty 8, Domplatz 20–22. The objection is justified if essential regulations on the determination of mandates, eligibility to vote, eligibility or the election procedure have been violated and the election result could have been influenced by the violation. The objection period ends on Tuesday, 08.07.2025, 4 p.m.. The final election result will then be determined.
